The artist was Edith Hardaker and it is believed that it was executed in the 1980s. Edith Hardaker only took up painting when she retired at 70 but quickly became so accomplished in watercolour work that she taught classes in the subject. Postcard showing the Dolphin Inn before the inclusion of the old Bicycle Shop to the left. The proprietors are shown as ‘Mrs Goyne and Leonard’ and the telephone number was 435. They advertise ‘beer from the wood and snacks available at the bar’. It then cost 4 old pence to send a postcard. (Tregunna)

On the occasion of their marriage on 29th April 2011, the Grampound with Creed Parish Council sent a letter of congratulation to Kate Middleton and Prince William of Wales. On the morning of the wedding, it was announced from Buckingham Palace that their Royal Highnesses were to be styled ‘Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’. Whenever the Duchess was referred to by her Christian name in the days after the wedding, it became accepted practice to call her ‘Catherine’. She will be the sixth Queen Consort of England since 1066 to bear this name. This is their reply to the Grampound with Creed Parish Council letter. (Parish Council Collection)

An original drawing for the Booklet ‘Grampound with Creed’ published in 1992 by Amy Bane and Mary Oliver. Croggon’s Tannery provided the skins to make Tim Severin’s curragh, ‘St Brendan’, which successfully crossed the Atlantic in 1976. Severin undertook the journey to prove that St Brendan could have crossed the ocean a thousand years before Colombus in such a craft. (Oliver)

An original drawing for the Booklet ‘Grampound with Creed’ published in 1992 by Amy Bane and Mary Oliver. Grampound with Creed Junior and Infants School built in 1869. The present large window under the gabled section was probably installed c1900 to replace a smaller one. The school stands on the line of the road leading to the earlier bridge over the River Fal that was replaced in 1834; ‘Old Hill’ was then the main road to Truro. (Oliver)
